U.S. Senate Candidate in Wisconsin Eric Hovde stated that the policies of both Senator Tammy Baldwin, the Democratic candidate for Senate in Wisconsin, and Vice President Kamala Harris have enabled open borders, endangering the people of Wisconsin. Hovde made the statement to Federal Newswire on July 29.

"Whether it's supporting the defund the police movement or opening our borders to let dangerous criminals and deadly drugs into our country, Sen. Baldwin and VP Harris are dangerously out of step and it has made Wisconsin less safe," said Hovde. "It's time for a change from the status quo career politicians that do nothing while our country becomes less safe and less prosperous -- all while cashing millions of dollars in paychecks for themselves."

Vice President Kamala Harris was tasked in 2021 by President Biden to uncover causes of mass migration to the U.S.-Mexico border, according to Fox News. Since this appointment, she has attempted to dismantle U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as suggesting the U.S. should "decriminalize" unauthorized border crossings.

According to the New York Post, current U.S. Senator for Wisconsin Tammy Baldwin, Hovde's opposing candidate, has voted in favor of immigration policies like instituting sanctuary cities in the past. Though she also formerly opposed legislation for the detention of convicted illegal migrants, she recently voiced favor for deportation of criminals.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Border Patrol has arrested 14,000 individuals with existing criminal convictions illegally crossing to date in FY24.

Reuters reported that individuals in the manufacturing town of Racine, Wisconsin were caught in a scheme supplying the Jalisco cartel with weapons to aid their drug trafficking operations. Individuals in other states were also implicated.

Eric Hovde is an entrepreneur and a candidate for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin, according to his website.
