The Wisconsin Lottery has announced a new feature for its SuperCash! game, available throughout September. The limited-time Lightning Ball offer gives players who purchase SuperCash! tickets between September 1 and 30 a one in three chance of receiving an extra number, called the Lightning Ball, on a set of two plays.

SuperCash! requires players to pick two sets of six numbers from 1 to 39. Prizes range from $1 up to $350,000 for matching three to six numbers. With the Lightning Ball feature, every third set of two plays purchased statewide will include an additional number drawn from the same pool. If this extra number matches one of the winning numbers, it increases the player's chances for higher prizes.

According to the Wisconsin Lottery: "Example: If a player matches four of six numbers drawn, they win $30. But, if a Lightning Ball appears and it also matches one of the numbers drawn, the player now matches five of six numbers and wins $500."

However, there are some limitations with this new feature. "The Lightning Ball cannot be used to win the SuperCash! top prize of the Doubler. However, for plays that match five of six numbers plus the Lightning Ball, the prize is $10,000. If a Doubler is drawn for that winning ticket, a $20,000 prize would be awarded instead. These prize levels are only available during the SuperCash!Lightning Ball limited time offer," according to information provided by Wisconsin Lottery officials.

SuperCash! was first launched in 1991 and costs $1 per ticket for two plays. Players can select their own numbers or use a quick pick option and may enter up to seven draws in advance.

So far in 2025, eleven players have won SuperCash!'s top prize of $350,000. The odds for winning this top prize stand at about one in 1.6 million. For standard plays without Lightning Ball enhancements, odds vary depending on prize level—for example: one in 8,239 for winning $500 and one in 15 for winning $1. With Lightning Ball activated on eligible tickets during September's promotion period, odds improve for certain prizes; notably: one in about 272 thousand for winning $10,000 and one in ten for winning $1.

The probability that a Doubler is drawn remains at one in seven.
