Local business leaders convened with Congressman Tom Tiffany at a roundtable to discuss pressing issues impacting the business community, including inflation, high interest rates, healthcare affordability, and rising energy prices. The event, held on July 26 at Merrill Steel in Schofield, was hosted by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP).

“Rising costs are a major concern of the business community right now,” said WMC President & CEO Kurt R. Bauer. “Inflation, along with high interest rates and rising energy costs, are prohibitive to investments and other projects. This is detrimental to the overall health of Wisconsin’s economy, but as Rep. Tiffany shared, there are policy solutions that can help mitigate some of these challenges.”

The roundtable was part of a series co-hosted by WMC and AFP to demonstrate that prosperity is possible through forward-thinking policy solutions aimed at reducing government spending, lowering costs for individuals and businesses, and eliminating barriers hindering economic growth.

“Prosperity is possible through policies that unleash American energy, create economic opportunity, and improve healthcare accessibility,” said AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak. “We’re grateful to Rep. Tiffany for being a strong partner in Washington and fighting for a stronger, more prosperous Wisconsin economy. Together, we’re finding real solutions to the high inflation and rising costs to ensure our business community thrives.”

During the discussion, Congressman Tiffany listened to area executives who expressed concerns over various economic challenges such as taxes, regulations, energy costs, and healthcare expenses. Employers unanimously agreed that rising costs were impeding their ability to create new jobs and increase wages.

Congressman Tiffany, WMC, and AFP collectively acknowledged the economic concerns and proposed several policy solutions aimed at reducing costs and improving the business climate. These included responsible federal budgeting, regulatory reform, lowering tax burdens on families and employers, and ensuring access to affordable and reliable energy.

WMC and AFP plan to continue collaborating on similar events to promote policy solutions that aim to ensure prosperity for all Wisconsinites.
