The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, established through welfare reform in 1996, demonstrated that connecting government aid to employment could boost job rates and reduce poverty among single-mother households.

Rachidi has analyzed FoodShare data from 2012 to 2023. Her findings indicate that waiving the work requirement resulted in an average increase of 780 adults receiving FoodShare per county each month during this period. This equates to approximately 56,160 additional FoodShare recipients across Wisconsin.
