FOIA Request Sent to Douglas County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 30, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Douglas County Election Department in Wisconsin on October 30, 2024. The request, issued by media organization The Sconi, sought detailed information about the methods being used to count ballots in the upcoming election.

The Sconi specifically requested a list of methods employed for ballot counting. If any of these methods involved manual counting, they also asked for an estimated number of people who would be working on election night.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi believe access to such public records is crucial. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In line with our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await the response from the Douglas County Election Department and will continue to keep our readers informed about this important aspect of the electoral process.
