NFIB Wisconsin has expressed disappointment with Governor Tony Evers following his State of the State Address. Bill G. Smith, NFIB Wisconsin State Director, commented on the governor's approach to the state's $4 billion surplus.
"NFIB Wisconsin is disappointed the governor seems to view the state’s $4 billion surplus as a green light to launch a tax and spend agenda while our state’s small businesses struggle with the economic challenges of inflation, worker shortages, health care costs, and burdensome taxes," Smith stated.
Smith noted that Governor Evers missed an opportunity in his address to acknowledge the significant role small businesses play in Wisconsin's economy. "Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. They invest in our youth programs, are strong supporters of our schools, create jobs, and provide the products and services essential to the economic growth of communities throughout the state," he added.
The NFIB encourages Governor Evers to consider policies that would lead to substantial tax reductions and foster collaboration with the Legislature for initiatives supporting small business development.
