Aspirus Health Foundation has received a significant donation to improve biopsy technology at the Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital Breast Care Center. The contribution from Joe and Cindy Kinsella of Almond, Wisconsin, aims to enhance patient experience during breast care procedures.

Cindy Kinsella expressed their motivation: “This opportunity and breast biopsy technology hit home for us,” she said. “When we met and talked about it, we just knew that this is something we wanted to do and are fortunate to be able to provide the funding necessary to help ensure quality, close-to-home health care.”

The updated biopsy system will replace the equipment installed in 2018, reducing exam times that can be uncomfortable for patients. Tracy Rekowski, Imaging Services Manager at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, highlighted the benefits: “With this new technology, Radiologists can obtain real-time sample imaging and point-of-care biopsy verification,” she said. The system offers improved image quality and integrated pain management.

Carrie Penovich, Aspirus Southeast WI Regional President, thanked the donors: “On behalf of our 1,000 regional employees and the almost 80,000 patients we serve annually in Stevens Point, Plover and the surrounding communities, our heartfelt thank you to the Kinsellas,” she stated.

Gregg Gutschow from Aspirus Health Foundation praised the Kinsellas' continued support: “This gift is transformative but not surprising as I have gotten to know Joe and Cindy,” he said. The couple has been active supporters since co-chairing a campaign for the Breast Care Center's construction seven years ago.

Gutschow also mentioned their contributions to the Angel Fund established in 2018 for providing free breast cancer screenings in Portage County.

The Aspirus Health Foundation focuses on enhancing healthcare services through community partnerships. For more information or support opportunities, contact Gregg Gutschow or visit their website.

Aspirus Health operates hospitals across Wisconsin and neighboring regions with a team dedicated to advancing healthcare services.
