FOIA Request to Trempealeau County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continued efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records pertaining to the upcoming election in Trempealeau County.
The requested records include a list of all candidates running for office in the forthcoming election. Specific details requested for each candidate include their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.
In addition to these details, we have also asked for contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to these public records is crucial for us at The Sconi. We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await response from the Trempealeau County Election Department regarding this request.
