FOIA Request to St. Croix County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continued efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records of all candidates running in the upcoming election.
Our request specifically asks for a list of all candidates including their first, middle and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation. We also requested contact information for each candidate such as address, phone number, and email address.
As media professionals dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information.
