FOIA Request to Langlade County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have requested specific records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., from the Langlade County Election Department.
Our request primarily seeks a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. This list should ideally include the candidate's first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, the jurisdiction of that office, and their party affiliation.
Furthermore, we have also asked for all available contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
