FOIA Request to Sawyer County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records pertaining to the upcoming elections.
We are specifically seeking a list of all candidates running in the forthcoming election. This includes each candidate's first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, the jurisdiction of that office, and their party affiliation.
Additionally, we have requested all available contact information for each candidate. This encompasses their address, phone number, and email address.
Access to public records is essential for us at The Sconi to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
