A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Price County Election Department in Wisconsin on February 5, 2025. The request, made by media organization The Sconi, sought comprehensive details about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The information requested included the full names of the candidates - first, middle and last names - as well as the office they are vying for and its jurisdiction. Additionally, the party affiliation of each candidate was also requested.
In a bid to ensure thorough coverage of the electoral process, The Sconi also asked for all contact information available for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number and email address.
As a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await response from the Price County Election Department regarding this request.
