The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has announced the appointment of Julie Lassa as the new Administrator of the Division of Agricultural Development. The announcement was made by DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski.

"Julie has decades of experience with the agriculture industry, stakeholder relationships, and leadership," Romanski stated. "DATCP aims to be a resource to the industry and citizens of the state, and I know that Julie's background and strengths will support her work as she joins the team."

Lassa brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She grew up on a small family dairy farm in central Wisconsin and has been an advocate for agriculture throughout her career. During her tenure as a Wisconsin legislator, she was instrumental in authoring laws that led to the creation of programs such as Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin and Farm to School. Most recently, Lassa served as Wisconsin State Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development, where she focused on enhancing rural communities through investments in housing, community infrastructure, and business development.

"I am extremely pleased to be joining DATCP and continuing to work to advocate for Wisconsin agriculture and new economic opportunities for this key sector of our state's economy," Lassa said.

Lassa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and public administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She is set to begin her role as Administrator on February 18.
