Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital has been recognized as one of the 2025 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. This annual award honors rural hospitals across the nation based on their performance results from the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX.

Carrie Penovich, President of Aspirus Southeast WI Division, stated, “Being a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital means our community can count on us to deliver the services they need.” She attributed this recognition to the efforts of clinicians, staff, and leadership in fostering a culture of continuous improvement for patient benefit.

The hospital is one of four in Wisconsin and the only facility in central and northern Wisconsin to receive this honor. Beth Sekerka, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital, highlighted factors contributing to this recognition: “Our low infection rates, low length of stay, positive patient experience and staff engagement scores all contribute to this recognition.”

The INDEX provides a comprehensive assessment of rural hospital performance using publicly available data. It is widely used by rural hospitals and health systems nationwide to measure performance across various operational and financial areas.

Aspirus Health operates as a nonprofit health system serving regions including northeastern Minnesota, northern and central Wisconsin, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The system comprises 18 hospitals and numerous outpatient locations with nearly 14,000 team members.
