Attorney General Josh Kaul has appointed Jake Jansky as the new Administrator for the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). The announcement was made in Madison, Wisconsin.
“Administrator Jansky is well prepared to lead DCI, which investigates serious crimes across the state,” stated AG Kaul. “Jake’s experience will serve DCI well in fulfilling its critical role in helping to keep Wisconsin communities safe.”
Jansky brings over a decade of experience with DCI to his new role. His career in law enforcement began in 1999 at the La Crosse Police Department, where he held various positions before joining DCI in 2013.
At DCI, Jansky initially worked as a special agent within the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit. He later transitioned to the Child Sex Trafficking Unit, which evolved into what is now known as the Human Trafficking Bureau. In 2016, he became a Special Agent in Charge for the North Central High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) based in Milwaukee and led a multi-agency opioid task force.
In 2022, Jansky took on responsibilities at the DCI Milwaukee Field Office, managing investigations and operations there. By 2023, he advanced to Director at DCI overseeing several units including ICAC and Human Trafficking Bureau along with field offices and initiatives such as Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group Unit and Native American Drug and Gang Initiative (NADGI). Additionally, Jansky contributes to the Wisconsin Crime Victims Council.
