The Keweenaw Health Foundation has donated $15,000 to VFW Post 3900. The funds are designated for the creation and installation of a new Patriot Sign at Lake View Veterans Cemetery in Houghton, Michigan. This sign will honor the veterans buried there, serving as a tribute to their service and sacrifice.

“We are honored to support this important project that will help ensure that the sacrifices of our veterans are recognized for generations to come,” stated Jenn Jenich-Laplander, Executive Director of the Keweenaw Health Foundation. She added that the donation is a way to give back to those who have served for freedom, hoping it will be a source of pride and reflection for both families and the community.

Lake View Veterans Cemetery hosts veterans from various military branches. The new sign will be prominently displayed at the entrance as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance. Art Kreivi, Commander of VFW Post 3900 Calumet, expressed appreciation for the donation: “We are deeply grateful for the generous donation from the Keweenaw Health Foundation. This new Patriot Sign will be a lasting tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country and are laid to rest at Lake View Veterans Cemetery.”

VFW Post 3900 has long been an integral part of the local veteran community. This collaboration with the Keweenaw Health Foundation is another step in honoring those who have served. The sign's installation is expected later this year with a dedication ceremony planned for spring.
