The Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) has reported a modest growth in homebuilding activity for the year 2024. The data reveals a one percent increase in new home construction permits in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, culminating in a ten percent rise in overall home building activity for the year.
The figures are based on county-specific statistics collected up to December, detailing building permits submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. WBA President Mike Derrick commented on the findings, stating, “The data underscores the resilience and challenges of Wisconsin’s housing market.” He noted that while some counties are witnessing significant development, others are seeing declining permit numbers, which may affect housing affordability and availability.
WBA Executive Director Brad Boycks added that they would continue to monitor homebuilding activity as part of ongoing discussions regarding regulatory impacts, affordability concerns, and economic conditions affecting both the industry and homeowners statewide.
The Wisconsin Builders Association is a professional trade group consisting of 21 local associations aimed at assisting members in community-building efforts across Wisconsin. Representing around 4,000 members from the home building industry, WBA has been advocating for affordable and accessible housing for over 75 years.
