Black River Memorial Hospital in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States for 2025. This accolade was awarded by the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, which is regarded as a comprehensive and objective measure of rural hospital performance across the country.

The recognition indicates that The Chartis Group identified Black River Memorial Hospital as a top performer in areas such as risk management, patient care, safety, patient satisfaction, and cost efficiency compared to its peers.

Dr. Michelle Clark-Forsting, Chief Physician Executive at Black River Health (BRH), emphasized the hospital's focus on patients: “Our patients and community are at the center of everything we do. Receiving national recognition for the care we provide is a true honor.”

Carl Selvick, Chief Executive Officer of BRH, acknowledged the efforts of all staff members: “While this award recognizes the hospital, it truly reflects the commitment of all our staff members. Our team’s hard work has put us among the top 100 critical access hospitals in the U.S., and that’s something we all can be proud of.”

BRH remains dedicated to maintaining high standards and leading in rural healthcare amid ongoing changes in the healthcare landscape.
