Jeff Brabant, Vice President of Federal Government Relations for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), recently spoke with WCUB in Green Bay. He detailed the urgency for Congress to take action to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent, thereby preventing an impending tax increase on small businesses in Wisconsin.

The 20% Small Business Deduction was implemented as part of the 2017 tax law with the objective of creating parity between small businesses and larger corporations. This deduction has been instrumental for small business owners in navigating economic adversities in recent years. However, it is scheduled to lapse at the end of 2025.

The proposed Main Street Tax Certainty Act aims to solidify this deduction permanently, a move which would avert a substantial tax rise affecting a majority of small businesses nationwide.
