The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is currently seeking nominations for a position on the Farm to School Advisory Council. Applications are open until 11:59 p.m. on May 15, 2025.

The available position falls under the at-large category. Appointed members serve a term of three years, meeting at least four times annually. Interested parties can access nomination forms and additional information as specified in the release.

Randy Romanski, the Secretary of DATCP, will be responsible for appointing the new council member. The appointee's term is expected to commence during the summer 2025 Farm to School meeting.

The Farm to School Advisory Council provides critical recommendations to the DATCP Secretary on developing farm to school initiatives within Wisconsin. Additionally, the council drafts an annual farm to school report for the Wisconsin legislature.

The council comprises 15 members, including a diverse representation of professionals. Categories represented include one DATCP employee appointed by the DATCP Secretary, one Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) employee appointed by the DHS Secretary, one Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) employee appointed by the DPI Superintendent, and twelve other individuals. These individuals are chosen based on their expertise in child health, agriculture, nutrition, and education, and are appointed by the DATCP Secretary.

Questions and completed nomination forms should be directed to April Yancer, the DATCP Farm to School and Institution Specialist, via the provided contact details.
