Gov. Tony Evers has announced the reappointment of Cindy Brown and the appointment of Andy Hatch to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Board. These appointments took effect on May 2, 2025.
Cindy Brown has been a prominent figure in agriculture, focusing on promoting the health benefits of pulses and advocating for sustainable farming practices. Her efforts have contributed to expanding global markets for pulses. Brown has also played a significant role in increasing the visibility of women in agriculture through leadership positions in trade organizations. She is the immediate Past-President of the Global Pulse Confederation and served as President of Chippewa Valley Bean from 2011 to 2025, where she currently holds the position of Chairman of the Board.
“Thank you to the Governor for his leadership in these appointments," said DATCP Secretary Romanski. “Ms. Brown is engaged and knowledgeable, and I look forward to continuing to work with her on the DATCP Board."
Andy Hatch, a Wisconsin native, studied Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin and apprenticed under Master Cheesemaker Gary Grossen. His experience extends internationally with apprenticeships in Norway, France, Italy, and England. Hatch returned to Wisconsin to operate Uplands Cheese in Dodgeville, where he resides and produces award-winning cheeses.
“The Department has a positive and collaborative working relationship with the DATCP Board," continued Secretary Romanski. “I look forward to working with Mr. Hatch through his work on the DATCP Board."
