Wisconsin's licensed cherry growers are currently casting their votes to elect two new members to the Wisconsin Cherry Board. The voting period extends until June 16, 2025. The election, overseen by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), features no candidates on the ballot due to a lack of nominations by the March 28 deadline.
Growers are encouraged to write in names of eligible cherry producers for the positions. Those elected will serve from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. Ballots were distributed starting May 5, and any producer who has not received one by May 20 should contact DATCP's Market Orders Program.
Ballots must be signed and returned via email or postmarked to the DATCP Market Orders Program in Madison by June 16. The five-member board manages approximately $45,000 collected annually from assessment fees paid by cherry growers. These funds support research, education, and promotion of Wisconsin-grown cherries.
DATCP is responsible for administering elections for commodity marketing boards in Wisconsin.
