The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has announced Sarah Hagenow from Poynette as the 78th Alice in Dairyland. In this role, Hagenow will serve as a full-time communications professional for DATCP, focusing on educating the public about agriculture's significance in Wisconsin.

Hagenow is deeply connected to Wisconsin's agricultural sector and enjoys sharing stories about its dedicated workers. She is currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, pursuing a degree in agricultural and food business management with a minor in international agriculture. Her background includes participation in 4-H and FFA, leading her to join various agricultural clubs and teams at college. She has completed internships with Heatherstone Enterprises, Viking Dairy Company, the Minnesota State Senate, and the Animal Agriculture Alliance.

“Serving as the 78th Alice in Dairyland is a dream come true," said Hagenow. “I can't wait to start visiting communities all across the state, learning more about the diverse people and places that make Wisconsin the agricultural powerhouse it is, and giving voice to their stories of dedication and inspiration."

Hagenow was named during the 78th Alice in Dairyland Finals hosted by Crawford County over the weekend. Her term will commence on July 7, 2025. She takes over from Halei Heinzel of Oconomowoc, who will remain in her role until July.

Alice in Dairyland is a one-year position within DATCP focused on communication efforts related to agriculture. The program receives support from several partner organizations such as Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, Ginseng Board of Wisconsin, Goodman's Jewelers, Kettle Moraine Mink Breeders Association, Dairy Innovation Hub, Wisconsin Beef Council, Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board, and Wisconsin Potato Industry Board.
