FOIA Request to Chippewa County Sheriff's Department regarding monthly arrest report and mugshots on June 25, 2025.
The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department. The request seeks access to all arrest reports and photos/mugshots from the beginning of June until the end of the month. This request is made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.
As members of The Sconi, we emphasize that access to public records is crucial for fulfilling our journalistic duties, which include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. In light of our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
