Leaders from Aspirus Health welcomed State Representative Scott Krug to Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital and Clinics on August 11. During the visit, Krug toured several departments and met with employees.
Chris Squire, President of Aspirus WI South & Southwest Divisions, commented on the event. “We were thrilled to share with Representative Krug the great work being done by our staff in Wisconsin Rapids and the growing geographic footprint of Aspirus Health,” Squire said. “Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids plays an important role in our system of rural care.”
Aspirus employs about 745 people in its Southwest Division, which covers Rep. Krug's district. Each year, nearly 600 babies are delivered at Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids, making it the third busiest maternity location in the Aspirus system after facilities in Wausau and Duluth. The hospital’s emergency department serves more than 20,000 patients annually.
The legislative visit also included a presentation on Aspirus Health’s Community Benefits program. Leaders discussed support for local initiatives such as the Families and Schools Together (FAST) Program at area schools, a Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program for eligible patients, and collaboration with Three Bridges Recovery to help patients recovering from substance use.
Ryan Lown, Chief Administrative Officer of Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital, said: “This was another great opportunity for us to highlight the impact of our programs and services to Representative Krug. We thank him for visiting and look forward to continuing the discussion on these important topics.”
