Aspirus Health has announced the addition of Katie Johnson, DPT, to its outpatient therapies team in Houghton. Johnson, a physical therapist with over ten years of experience, will provide care to patients at Aspirus Outpatient Therapies.
Johnson holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She was also a Division I women’s ice hockey athlete during her undergraduate studies.
Her professional background includes orthopedic rehabilitation, concussion management, vestibular therapy, and athletic performance recovery. Over her career, she has worked with patients recovering from musculoskeletal injuries, surgeries, balance disorders, and chronic pain. Johnson has also contributed to developing protocols for concussion care aimed at student athletes and general patients.
“I’m excited to join Aspirus and continue my passion for helping patients return to the activities that matter most to them,” said Johnson. “Whether it's athletes returning to sport or older adults regaining independence, I strive to provide individualized, evidence-based care that leads to lasting outcomes.”
In addition to clinical practice, Johnson has served as a Clinical Instructor and Center Coordinator of Clinical Education. She is certified in manual therapy, concussion management, dry needling and has completed specialized training in pain neuroscience education and foundational movement patterns for athletic performance.
Johnson lives in Lake Linden where she spends time with family and remains active within the local sports community.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Katie to our outpatient therapy team,” said Dave Callaghan, DPT, Manager – Therapy Services. “Her extensive clinical expertise, strong academic background, and deep dedication to both her patients and professional development make her an outstanding fit for Aspirus. Her addition strengthens our ability to provide top-tier rehabilitative care to the people of the Keweenaw and surrounding areas, and we’re confident she’ll have a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients.”
