Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital has been designated as a Level III trauma care facility by the State of Wisconsin. This designation recognizes the hospital’s capacity to deliver essential emergency services, including rapid assessment, stabilization, and surgical intervention for patients with critical injuries in central Wisconsin.
As a Level III trauma center, Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital is able to provide immediate care and coordinate transfers to higher-level facilities when more advanced treatment is required. The process to achieve this designation involved an extensive review and site visit to ensure compliance with all requirements set forth by the Wisconsin Administrative Code.
Unintentional injuries are a significant health concern in the state. In 2022, over 42,000 trauma cases were reported across Wisconsin, making such injuries the third leading cause of death statewide. By participating in the Wisconsin Trauma Care System, Aspirus helps ensure that residents in its region have access to coordinated emergency care that can improve patient outcomes.
“This designation affirms our team’s dedication to trauma excellence,” said Jamie Armbruster, BSN RN, Trauma Coordinator at Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital. “It represents years of training, collaboration, and a shared mission to provide comprehensive care to every trauma patient who walks through our doors.”
Aspirus Health continues efforts throughout its system to maintain readiness for trauma situations and emphasizes the importance of providing expert care close to home during emergencies.
