As the federal government shutdown continues, Wisconsin Republicans have raised concerns about its impact on veterans, families, and small businesses in the state. They attribute the ongoing shutdown to actions by Democrats in Washington.

Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Brian Schimming stated, “Democrats have opened the doors to this House of Horrors, inviting chaos and suffering into the lives of everyday Wisconsinites. While they play political games, our veterans are left homeless, families go hungry, and businesses teeter on the brink of collapse. It’s time to exorcise this shutdown demon. Republicans stand ready to pass clean funding bills and restore order before this nightmare consumes us all.”

According to party officials, the shutdown has disrupted rental assistance programs for homeless veterans in Wisconsin. These disruptions may increase the risk of eviction for those who rely on such support.

Veterans’ medical care and assistance programs are also reportedly affected by the lapse in federal funding. Low-income women, infants, and children could see interruptions in food aid through programs like WIC due to the shutdown.

Additionally, many residents living in flood-prone areas face uncertainty as federal flood insurance services are suspended during a government shutdown. This leaves homeowners at risk if a disaster occurs while funding is stalled.

Small business owners throughout Wisconsin may experience delays or freezes in Small Business Administration (SBA) loans that help sustain local enterprises during difficult times.

Wisconsin Republicans have urged Democratic lawmakers to work with them on passing new funding measures. They argue that immediate action is necessary to end disruptions affecting communities across the state.
