Wisconsin Congressman, Bryan Steil, is championing the Green Bay Packers recent decision to award the Racine Veteran Outreach nonprofit with its annual $250,000 grant.

“Two things all Wisconsinites can agree on: we must support our veterans, and Go Pack Go,” Steil stated in a tweet Dec. 14. “I know the Racine community is grateful to the Packers.”

The team presents its Give Back Award to whomever team officials deem as the state’s most exceptional non-profit volunteers, according to a Dec. 6 report from the Journal Times. The award is funded by the team and the National Football League Foundation.

“The Packers are pleased to support Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin and their critical work providing much-needed assistance to those who have served our country,” said Green Bay Packers President and CEO, Mark Murphy. “We look forward to seeing how the grant will help this deserving organization grow as they work to ensure veterans in need have access to resources, community and a place they can call home.”

Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin’s goal is to assist homeless and at-risk veterans in getting their lives back on track by offering essential resources, like food, clothing, shelter and other necessities, the Journal Times reported. The organization plans on using the grant to expand its tiny house project, open a veteran community center and create a mobile food pantry.
