The Latest Election Scam: Ranked-Choice Voting

Have you ever wondered what happened in Alaska during the 2022 midterm election? How is it that a congressional district that had long been held by Republicans since 1971 was suddenly and inexplicably won by a Democrat? How is it that of the last three candidates standing — showcasing two Republican candidates and only one Democrat candidate — neither Republican candidate won that race?

This phenomenon in Alaska can be explained by ranked-choice voting.

Ranked-choice voting is the latest vogue paraded by the elite Left — masked as a non-partisan effort — that seeks to fundamentally change the way we, Americans, have always voted. Like our fellow patriots, you and I have always voted under the “one-person, one-vote” system. We get to pick a specific candidate, and the candidate with the highest number of votes wins.

Under ranked-choice voting, a voter picks and ranks candidate choices on the ballot. First, second, third, and so on. If no candidate gets enough votes to win, the candidate with the least votes is eliminated. Those who voted for an eliminated candidate have their vote redistributed to their next choice in the following round. This elimination and redistribution process repeats until a candidate receives enough votes to win. If it sounds complicated, that’s because it is…complicated for the voter and for the election officials counting the votes.

Before we look at the true effects of the ranked-choice voting scam, let us take a peek behind the curtain. Ranked-choice voting has been recently promoted by a non-profit organization — FairVote — that claims to be ‘non-partisan’ in its efforts to “advance voting reforms that make democracy more functional and representative for every American.”

Every time ranked-choice voting is adopted in cities and regions across our nation, FairVote claims victory. Did you know that, in addition to forcefully advocating for ranked-choice voting, FairVote is also intent on abolishing the Electoral College?

Now, what kind of non-partisan organization would want to do away with our electoral system that has operated successfully for over 200 years? Looking back at our history, it is clear during the Constitutional Convention held in 1787, our Founding Fathers came up with a compromise between the election of the President by a vote in Congress and the election of the President by a vote of the people. The whole idea was to create a system that gave larger states greater electoral weight without drowning the interests of smaller states.

Why, then, would a ‘non-partisan’ organization advocate for the elimination of our electoral process?

Despite adopting the non-partisan moniker, it appears FairVote receives funding from Leftist organizations such as Open Society Foundation, the Soros Fund Charitable Foundation and the Jennifer and Jonathan Allan Soros Foundation. Any organization that is heavily linked to the out-of-touch billionaire activist George Soros is likely only doing the bidding of the political elite left.

FairVote is willing to bypass a court’s opinion to ensure ranked-choice voting is adopted. In 2016, despite an opinion offered by Maine’s Supreme Judicial Court that ranked-choice voting was unconstitutional, FairVote worked with a number of organizations to pour out-of-state money to ensure ranked-choice voting was adopted in Maine through a statewide referendum.

If ranked-choice voting is something citizens should aspire to, why is it that voters in Aspen, Colorado, successfully repealed it merely three years after voting for it? Furthermore, how is it that an initiative to repeal the newly minted RCV in Alaska is already in place and is drawing crowds?

The truth of the matter is with ranked-choice voting, every vote does not count. With ranked-choice voting, vulnerable voters — such as the elderly, those in long-term residential facilities, and those with learning difficulties — would be disenfranchised. With ranked-choice voting, already low confidence in our voting system will be further diminished.

The American Conservative Rights Union works with brave patriots across the country to take local and state actions to protect liberty and election integrity. You can take action to stop ranked-choice voting by going to ACRU’s Live Free Local page to sign a petition and access a resolution that can be passed by your local officials to take a stand against ranked-choice voting.

Make no mistake about it. Just as they seek to suppress your First and Second Amendment rights, the elite left plans to push ranked-choice voting in your town so they can also cause total upheaval in our elections.
