Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) have requested records from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) as part of a congressional investigation into the Pacific Palisades wildfires that occurred in January 2025.
The senators sent a letter to LADWP seeking information about the department’s preparedness and response to the fires, which caused significant property damage and loss of life. This request is part of ongoing efforts to review how agencies responded to the deadly incident.
Previously, Johnson and Scott sent letters to former Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Fire Chief Kristin Crowley and interim Fire Chief Ronnie Villanueva. These letters asked for details regarding LAFD’s actions during the Palisades fires.
Ron Johnson has served as U.S. Senator from Wisconsin since 2011, winning re-election in 2016 against Russ Feingold with 50.2% of the vote, and again in 2022 against Mandela Barnes with 50.4%. He first won his seat by defeating Feingold in 2010 with 51.9% of the vote.
