Absentee ballots should be submitted well in advance, often a few days or even weeks before the election day, to ensure they reach the municipal clerk's office or local election authority by the final date for counting. Ballots arriving after this specified date won't be counted, regardless of the postmark.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission is a bipartisan regulatory agency that administers and enforces election laws in the state. It was established in 2016 alongside the Wisconsin Ethics Commission, replacing the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB).
