U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) said he ran for a third term in 2022 because “nobody was advocating for the vaccine injured.”
“I wasn’t going to run for a third term,” Johnson told host Chris Cuomo yesterday on News Nation. “One of the reasons I did is nobody was advocating for the vaccine injured.”
“Very few people were acknowledging what a miserable failure our response to COVID was.”
Johnson’s comments were in response to Cuomo, who asked Johnson why he “doesn’t just quit” after Johnson said “the federal government doesn’t solve too many problems.”
Johnson, 68, was re-elected to his third term in the 2022 General Election. He was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2020.
A native of Mankato, Minn., Johnson was raised in the town of Edina. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Business and Accounting in 1977. He and his wife, Jane, have been married since 1977 and have three children.
Johnson previously served as CEO of a plastics manufacturing company in Wisconsin.
