In a recent development, the United States District Court in Arizona has rejected Avid Telecom's attempts to dismiss and delay a bipartisan lawsuit involving 49 states. The case is against Michael D. Lansky, L.L.C., doing business as Avid Telecom, its owner Michael D. Lansky, and vice president Stacey S. Reeves.

The lawsuit was filed by forty-nine attorneys general who are members of the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force in May 2023. The case alleges that Avid Telecom initiated and facilitated billions of illegal robocalls to millions of people across the nation.

Attorney General Josh Kaul commented on the court's decision, stating, "This case alleges that Avid Telecom bears responsibility for a stunning number of illegal robocalls." He expressed satisfaction that efforts to hold the company accountable would continue moving forward.

The charges against Avid Telecom include allegations that the company sent or attempted to transmit more than 24 billion scam calls over a four-year period. These calls purportedly involved Social Security Administration scams, Medicare scams, auto warranty scams, Amazon scams, DirecTV scams, credit card interest rate reduction scams, and employment scams. It is alleged that Avid Telecom continued transmitting these calls even after being notified at least 329 times about these illegal robocalls being sent across their networks.
