Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), in collaboration with Johnson Financial Group, has announced the winner of the 2024 Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest. Jolly Good Soda, produced by Krier Foods in Random Lake, was declared the victor at WMC's annual Business Day event held on Thursday in Madison.
This year, more than 130 products were nominated for the contest, representing a wide range of manufacturing sub-sectors from across Wisconsin. The competition included an initial popular vote round and a bracket-style tournament known as "Manufacturing Madness." Four finalists emerged to compete for the trophy, which was crafted by EK Machine and EFCO Finishing Corporation.
The contest highlights Wisconsin's manufacturing industry, which contributes nearly $72 billion to the state's economy and employs about one-sixth of its workforce. This event is part of Manufacturing Month celebrations each October.
For nine years, WMC and Johnson Financial Group have hosted this statewide contest, drawing over 1.5 million votes since its inception. This year alone saw approximately 150,000 votes cast.
"Wisconsin manufacturers contribute more than just their products to the economy," stated WMC President & CEO Kurt R. Bauer. "Our manufacturers create jobs, invest in their communities, and support their workforce. The Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest showcases the depth and strength of manufacturing."
Johnson Financial Group President & CEO Jim Popp added his congratulations: "Congratulations to Jolly Good and all the 2024 nominees – you are not just leaders in manufacturing but architects of Wisconsin’s economic future."
Jolly Good Soda is recognized for its bold flavors and vibrant packaging. Its offerings include classic Root Beer and unique flavors like Sour Pow’r and Blue Raspberry.
Krier Foods’ Sr. Vice President of Business Development Zach Malin expressed gratitude for being selected: “It’s an honor to be selected as the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin... Thank you to everybody who voted for Jolly Good!”
