FOIA Request Sent to Dane County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 30, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Dane County Election Department in Wisconsin on October 30, 2024. The request was made by The Sconi, a media organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request, made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., sought specific details about the methods being used by the department to count ballots for the upcoming elections. If manual counting is being employed, The Sconi also requested an estimate of the number of people who would be working on election night.
