The Chippewa Falls Planning Commission has approved a conditional use permit for Aspirus Health, allowing the construction of a new hospital in the area. This decision follows a public hearing held on Monday and represents a significant step toward addressing local healthcare needs.
Aspirus Health announced its intention to fill healthcare gaps in Chippewa Falls last November, following recent closures of hospitals and healthcare services. The planned facility aims to provide emergency care, inpatient hospital services, and primary care. Aspirus hopes to have the hospital operational within 18 months after securing all necessary approvals.
The approval is seen as a move towards improving healthcare access for residents of Chippewa Falls and surrounding areas. Aspirus is working closely with local officials to ensure the project's success.
Next steps include finalizing the land purchase agreement and obtaining developer agreement approval from the City Council, expected in the coming weeks. Aspirus is currently negotiating these agreements to facilitate progress.
