FOIA Request to Kenosha County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Kenosha County Election Department. Our request is aimed at obtaining records of all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specific details requested include the candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of each candidate; and their contact information such as address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information.
