FOIA Request to Wood County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at The Sconi have sent a request for records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Wood County Election Department. Our request specifically seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The details requested include each candidate's first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of the candidate; and their contact information such as address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that providing this information will help foster an informed electorate ahead of the upcoming elections.
We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information to the public.
