U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) has collaborated with Senator Ted Cruz of Texas to introduce the Falun Gong Protection Act. This legislative measure targets individuals involved in or complicit with involuntary organ harvesting, mandating sanctions against them. Additionally, the bill requires the Secretary of State to present a report to Congress on the organ transplant policies and practices of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Falun Gong is a spiritual movement that combines meditation exercises with teachings rooted in traditional Chinese beliefs. The Chinese government has persecuted Falun Gong practitioners since 1999, labeling the movement a cult and subjecting its followers to imprisonment, torture, and forced organ harvesting.
U.S. Sens. Rick Scott of Florida and Thom Tillis of North Carolina also support this legislation.
