The candidates for the 78th Alice in Dairyland have been announced, and they are set to undergo an extensive interview process over the next two months. This process will test their communication and public relations skills, crucial for the role. Each candidate will receive training in media and speaking, along with a DATCP marketing and communications certificate.

The finalists will compete in Crawford County from May 15-17, 2025. The event includes agribusiness tours, media interviews, an impromptu Q&A session, and presentations by the candidates. The announcement of the winner will take place on May 17 at the Performing Arts Center in Prairie du Chien. The selected individual will assume their duties on July 7.

Halei Heinzel, who is currently serving as the 77th Alice in Dairyland, stated: “Serving as Alice in Dairyland is the ultimate goal of this process for these young women, but the skills they will develop along the way will take them far in life no matter where they go.” She expressed enthusiasm about observing each candidate's strengths during this selection period.

The candidates come from diverse backgrounds with strong ties to agriculture. Mikayla Flyte is pursuing a master's degree while being involved with her family's farm operations. Natalie Roe works as a social media coordinator after graduating from UW-Madison with degrees related to dairy science and communications. Olivia Lulich teaches agricultural education at Viroqua Area Schools and co-owns Lulich Show Stock.

Sarah Hagenow is completing her studies at the University of Minnesota focusing on agricultural business management. She has actively participated in various agricultural organizations throughout her academic career.

Alice in Dairyland serves as a full-time communications professional for DATCP supported by multiple partner organizations such as Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Beef Council among others.
