Aileen Switzer, Deputy Secretary | Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is currently accepting nominations for two positions on the Wisconsin Cherry Board. The nomination period will remain open until March 28, 2025.
Eligible growers will receive nomination forms by mail from DATCP. Nominees are required to sign the completed forms and obtain signatures from at least five additional eligible growers. These forms must be postmarked by the deadline and sent to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection's Market Order Program in Madison.
For those who have not received a nomination form by March 15 or have questions about the process, DATCP encourages them to reach out via email.
The election for the Wisconsin Cherry Board is scheduled to take place between May 9 and June 16, 2025. Those elected will begin their three-year terms on July 1, 2025, concluding on June 30, 2028.
The board consists of five at-large members responsible for administering Wisconsin's Cherry Marketing Order. They manage approximately $50,000 in assessment fees collected from cherry growers in the state. This funding supports research, education, and promotional activities for Wisconsin-grown cherries.
DATCP oversees elections for various commodity marketing boards within Wisconsin. For more information about these boards, interested parties can visit their website.
