Gwen Moore, a Representative serving Wisconsin's 4th district since 2005, has voiced concerns about recent actions taken by the Wisconsin Congressional delegation in the realm of budget resolutions and their implications. Her comments on social media highlight her position on the potential impacts of these legislative decisions.
On April 10, 2025, Moore stated that "Every single Republican in the Wisconsin Congressional delegation just voted on a budget resolution to cut billions in federal funds for BadgerCare, directly endangering their most vulnerable constituents, while adding trillions to the national debt." She suggested that the proposed changes jeopardize the financial support for BadgerCare and increase the national debt.
In a follow-up post on the same day, Moore contended that "GOP leaders have repeatedly stressed that their bill does not explicitly cut Medicaid... However, Medicaid will likely get cut by $880 billion as [it] comprises most of the committee's budget." She added, "The math is simple. Republicans are cutting Medicaid." This statement highlights her concern over the indirect effects of the proposed budget on Medicaid funding.
Two days later, on April 12, 2025, Moore critiqued Wisconsin GOP congressmen for their stance on tariffs, stating that "This week the Wisconsin GOP congressmen abdicated their oversight roll as members of congress when it comes to tariffs. Have they forgotten the trade war's toll on our farms under Trump 1.0? Prices tanked, exports plummeted, and family farms suffered." This comment reflects her apprehension about the potential adverse effects on local agriculture similar to those experienced during previous trade tensions.
Gwen Moore has served multiple terms in the U.S. Congress, with a political career extending back to her time in the Wisconsin State Assembly and State Senate. Her educational background includes a BA from Marquette University in 1978. Moore was born in 1951 in Racine, Wisconsin, and currently resides in Milwaukee.
