The Upper Valley Aquatic Center (UVAC) has announced that two of its athletes, Iris Freeman and Hugh Hawkins, have signed letters of intent to pursue their academic and athletic careers in college.
Iris Freeman, a senior at Hanover High School, will swim for Colby College, an NCAA Division III institution in Waterville, Maine. She has been swimming competitively for over nine years and has spent the last three years as part of the UVAC swim team. Her dedication and steady improvement have distinguished her among her peers.
Hugh Hawkins, the Valedictorian at Profile High School in Bethlehem, NH, will join Canisius University’s swim team. The university is an NCAA Division I school located in Buffalo, New York. With over ten years of competitive swimming experience, Hugh has achieved Age Group, Senior Championship, and Sectional Championship qualifications. His academic achievements have also earned him nearly a full scholarship to Canisius.
UVAC’s Head Swim Coach Ian Quinn commented on their achievements: “Hugh and Iris are the latest in a long line of outstanding swimmers here at UVAC. They are examples both in and out of the pool for their teammates to follow. Everyone here is proud of their accomplishments.”
