Tom Tiffany, Representative of Wisconsin, has raised concerns about financial scams targeting elderly residents and has called for immediate law enforcement action and the deportation of offenders. This statement was made on the social media platform X.

"BE AWARE: Illegal aliens are targeting elderly Wisconsinites with financial scams," said Tiffany. "If you receive threats demanding money, contact local law enforcement immediately. We must protect our seniors and deport these criminals without delay."

According to Spectrum News, financial scams against elderly Wisconsinites have sharply increased. Imposter and investment frauds often involve scammers exploiting victims’ fears about immigration status, making seniors more vulnerable to manipulation and financial loss.

As reported by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, seniors over age 70 in Wisconsin lost an average of over $1,000 each to financial scams in 2024. Imposter schemes have quadrupled from the previous year, prompting calls for expanded prevention efforts.

The Telegraph reports that a recent Wisconsin elder fraud case involving a noncitizen suspect reflects a nationwide rise of over 20% in prosecutions of noncitizens for financial crimes in the past three years. However, conviction rates for noncitizens remain slightly lower than for citizens.

Ballotpedia describes Tom Tiffany as the Republican U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 7th District since 2020. He previously served as a state senator and assemblyman and is known for prioritizing senior security, Second Amendment rights, and stricter penalties for elder fraud.
