Representative Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin has described the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) as delivering on election pledges to strengthen border security and assist families. He referred to it as a "strong first step" in remarks made on X.
"The top priorities going into this election were clear: secure the border and deliver relief to hardworking families," said Tiffany. "The OBBB keeps those promises. We can't reverse four years of damage with a single bill, but this is a strong first step toward a better future."
The OBBB, enacted in July 2025, is a comprehensive legislative package providing $150 billion in new funding for border security. This includes significant increases for Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and barriers. The bill also expands the Child Tax Credit and raises deductions for families. According to Politico, this bipartisan compromise reflects both House Republican priorities on immigration and the White House’s focus on family relief, sparking intense policy debate.
The Congressional Budget Office reports that the OBBB allocates $150 billion for border security over ten years, doubling recent annual funding levels. It also increases the Child Tax Credit by $200 per child while boosting the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap to $40,000. This provides tax relief to millions of American families and significantly increases federal enforcement resources.
According to the Tax Policy Center, the OBBB’s $150 billion border funding is six times larger than the $25 billion in the 2018 border bill. Its family relief measures are broader than those in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, making it the largest combined investment in border enforcement and middle-class tax support in modern federal legislation.
Tiffany has represented Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House since 2020 after serving in the state legislature. His focus areas include border security, tax relief, and resource management, as noted by Ballotpedia.
