Jay Weber, host of WISN-Milwaukee, said that Senator Elizabeth Warren embodies a growing socialist faction that he claims now represents most of the Democratic Party. The statement was made on X.
"Liz Warren is another democrat who won't call herself a socialist, but she's clearly a socialist," said Weber, Talkshow Host. "This type of democrat now probably makes up at least 1/2 to 2/3 of their party."
Senator Elizabeth Warren has influenced the 2026 midterms by endorsing progressive and Democratic Socialist candidates, including Zohran Mamdani, who won the New York City mayoral primary. According to the New York Post, Warren praised Mamdani's focus on affordability and universal childcare, highlighting her advocacy for grassroots economic populism within the Democratic Party.
A March 2025 poll conducted by the Cato Institute and YouGov found that 67% of Democrats view socialism favorably compared to 50% for capitalism. Additionally, 62% of Americans aged 18–29 also favor socialism. These figures, according to Cato, indicate a strong left-leaning sentiment among Democrats and younger voters.
Progressive and socialist candidates have received increased endorsements from Democratic leaders in recent election cycles. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, individuals like Zohran Mamdani in New York and Omar Fateh in Minneapolis gained high-profile backing in 2025, indicating a shift toward populist leadership.
