Common Cause Wisconsin (CC/WI) has expressed its support for the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) Draft Election Observer Rule EL 4. In a statement by Jay Heck, the Executive Director of Common Cause in Wisconsin, CC/WI emphasized the importance of establishing clear rules and standards for election observers in the state.

Heck stated, "Common Cause Wisconsin supports the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) Draft Election Observer, Rule EL 4," highlighting the organization's endorsement of the draft rule. The statement further reiterated CC/WI's backing of the rule in setting guidelines for observers at polling places across Wisconsin.

Acknowledging the complexities faced by the WEC staff in formulating the draft rule, Heck noted, "Common Cause Wisconsin recognizes the challenging task the WEC staff had in compiling comments, first-hand accounts, and feedback of the advisory committee." The organization commended the efforts of the commission in considering input from various stakeholders to ensure the rule reflects fairness and clarity for election observers.

Furthermore, Heck emphasized the need for clear information for observers, voters, and election officials, stating, "Observers, voters, and election officials rely on clear information from the WEC and the legislature." CC/WI urged the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules to pass the Draft Election Observer Rule EL 4, emphasizing the positive impact it could have on citizen confidence in the electoral process.

The support from Common Cause Wisconsin underscores the importance of establishing guidelines that not only safeguard voting rights but also enhance transparency, security, and confidence in Wisconsin's elections.
