The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP), local health departments, and federal partners, is investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to eggs from a Wisconsin farm. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 65 people in nine states have been infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella, including 42 individuals residing in Wisconsin.

The affected eggs were distributed in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan through retail stores and food service distributors. They have now been recalled. The recall encompasses all egg types—conventional cage-free, organic, non-GMO—across various carton sizes and expiration dates labeled with "Milo's Poultry Farms" or "Tony's Fresh Market."

Consumers who purchased the recalled eggs are advised not to eat or cook with them and to dispose of them immediately. Restaurants should refrain from selling or serving these eggs. If you consumed any of the recalled eggs and are experiencing symptoms of Salmonella infection, contact a healthcare provider promptly. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, and vomiting lasting several days.

Salmonella infection is caused by bacteria spread through contaminated food or water or direct/indirect contact with feces from infected individuals or animals. While most people recover on their own, some may require additional fluids to prevent dehydration. Children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems may experience more severe symptoms.

This investigation remains ongoing. For updates and further information on this case, visit the DHS outbreaks webpage.
