The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is currently accepting nominations for two seats on the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin. The nomination period is open until March 28, 2025.
Eligible growers will receive nomination forms via mail. These forms require signatures from at least five eligible growers other than the nominee. Completed forms must be sent to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection's Market Order Program by the deadline.
Growers who have not received their nomination form by March 15, 2025, or those with questions regarding the process are advised to contact DATCP Market Orders Program staff through email.
The election for the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin will take place between May 12 and June 16, 2025. Elected members will serve three-year terms starting July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2028.
"The Ginseng Board of Wisconsin is composed of seven at-large producers who are responsible for administering Wisconsin's Ginseng Marketing Order," according to a statement. The board manages over $200,000 in assessment fees paid by local ginseng growers. This funding supports research, education, and promotion efforts within the ginseng industry in Wisconsin.
